As long as you have proof of your right to work in the UK, we’ll welcome your application.
How many people will be on the programme?
There are up to 20 places available for the 2010 intake.
What would my starting salary be?

Can I choose which business units I work for during my assignments?
Assignments have been carefully selected to develop a broad range of skills and experience within Royal Mail. However, we will also aim to tailor assignments together with you and your mentor through the course of the programme to best suit your background and development interests.
Where will I be located during the assignments stage?
This will vary depending on where your assignment is based – so you could be located anywhere in the UK.
What type of development will I receive?
You will have the opportunity to identify your own development plan in conjunction with receiving support from a mentor and coach. Visit the development section of this site for more information.
Is there an automatic salary increase on completion of the programme?
This programme should prepare you for a role within the Senior Leadership Population which will come with a different remuneration package.
Where will I be located after the assignments stage?
This will depend on your skills – you could be located anywhere within the UK based on which role best suits you.
Is there a ‘pass level’ for the programme that I have to meet in order to stay with Royal Mail?
You will need to meet the expectations of the STEP, and achieve the goals and objectives for each individual assignment.
What will the permanent roles be like after the programme?
There are a variety of roles across Royal Mail which the STEP will prepare you for. These will be discussed with you once you have completed the programme.
Will there only be a certain number of roles available after the programme is complete?
Royal Mail is a large organisation which has a number of opportunities available, so there are plenty of positions on offer. Our aim is to ensure that there are the right roles for the right people within the business.
Do I have to complete the programme before I can apply for other internal roles?
Not necessarily. The STEP will prepare you for your role after the assignment stage within Royal Mail. However, should an opportunity arise that you would like to be considered for before your completion date, this can be discussed at the time.
Will relocation expenses be reimbursed?
Because every situation is different, this will be determined on a case by case basis.
